PADI IDC STAFF INSTRUCTOR COURSE – 12 Days

After gaining some teaching experience as a PADI Instructor you will be ready to become a valuable member of the PADI Instructor Development (IDC) team!

The PADI IDC Staff Instructor program is designed to provide PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainers (MSDT) with the additional training necessary to assist a PADI Course Director training new PADI Instructors during PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). You will also be able to independently conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor Course.

COURSE GOALS

Similar to the way a new student looks up to their PADI Assistant instructor or PADI Divemaster for help and guidance, PADI Instructor candidates look upon PADI IDC Staff Instructors as mentors. During our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) you’ll probably fulfill all the definitions of a “mentor” – you’ll counsel candidates about their skills, tutor our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) candidates about PADI Standards and coach them in developing more effective teaching presentations. By your actions and professionalism, you’ll also assist candidates in developing proper positive attitudes and influence how they conduct themselves as PADI professionals.

During your PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course, you will be familiarized with PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and PADI Assistant Instructor Course (AI) standards, procedures and curriculum.

Under your PADI Course Director supervision and guidance, you will be working with real PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) candidates to develop your evaluation, counseling and critique skills to an effective and consistent level.

This course will also further develop and fine-tune your presentations skills to a role model level preparing you to contribute positively when you are staffing PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) in the future as a fully certified PADI IDC Staff Instructor.

DUTIES

PADI IDC Staff Instructor rating is a special rating! This is the minimum PADI Instructor level to independently conduct and certify PADI Assistant Instructor course. You can also conduct some specific PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) segments under direct supervision or your PADI Course Director.

As an assistant to your PADI Course Director during PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and PADI Instructor level Continuing Education program, you will be working closely with your PADI Course Director to evaluate and give critique on our candidate’s knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations.

You will also be able to provide counseling and remedial training for PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) candidates and PADI IDC Staff Instructor candidates.

Only PADI IDC Staff Instructors and PADI Course Directors are allowed to observe the PADI Instructor Examinations (IE) opening and closing sessions!

COURSE STRUCTURE

The IDC Staff Instructor Course consists of four steps:

Step One: Preassessment:

This step confirms that you have adequate dive theory and standards knowledge as well as exemplary dive skills to act as a role model for our PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) candidates. It also measures your ability to construct satisfactory knowledge development and confined water teaching presentations. Before auditing a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) - Step Four, you must successfully complete Step One requirements.

Step Two: Knowledge Development Sessions:

To effectively function as staff during our PADI Instructor Development Courses (IDC) or to conduct PADI Assistant Instructor courses, you need to have knowledge of each program’s structure and standards. Step Two consists of formal classroom sessions that guide you through the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and PADI Assistant Instructor course curriculums.

Step Three: Evaluation Training:

In this step, you’ll participate in practical training exercises that will help you develop evaluation skills for knowledge development, confined and open water teaching presentations. You’ll also practice giving presentation critiques and learn a variety of counseling techniques. These exercises, along with the practice you get while auditing a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), will provide you with basic coaching skills.

Step Four: Auditing the entire PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC)

During this step, you’ll observe all PADI Instructor Development (IDC) training segments, evaluation and counseling sessions, as well as staff organization, communication and preparation.

Auditing a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) enhances your training in several ways:

1. You view the course from a staff perspective, which differs from a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) candidate’s perspective. Your anxiety level will probably be much lower than when you participated in your PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) program as a candidate. You’ll be able to pay more attention to the course details and supplementary information.
2. You’ll receive the most up-to-date information about PADI Standards, programs, and educational and promotional materials.
3. You participate as an observer only, so you’re able to apply the information and practice the evaluation skills you obtained from Steps Two and Three in a non-stressful environment.
4. You’ll see how each segment of training is organized and learn techniques for effective conduct.
