Are you looking for the first step in working with scuba as a career? Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational scuba diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with our highly experienced PADI Instructors, PADI IDC Staff Instructors, PADI Master Instructors and PADI Course Director in this program you'll expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster is the prerequisite certification for both the PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) certifications.

PADI Divemaster training also is one of the most important preparations towards becoming a PADI Instructor. During the PADI Divemaster program, you learn dive leadership skills through both classroom and independent study. After becoming certified as a PADI Divemaster you will be authorized to:
- Supervise both training and non-training-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives
- Assist a PADI Instructor during the training sessions for any PADI Diver course
- Conduct the PADI Skin Diver course and PADI Discover Snorkeling program
- Conduct the PADI Discover Local Diving experience
- Conduct the PADI Scuba Review program
- If qualified as a Discover Scuba Diving Leader, independently conduct the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program
- Earn the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Instructor rating to be able to teach the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer specialty
- Independently guide Open Water Diver course students on the tour portion of Open Water Diver course Training Dives 2, 3 and 4 at a ratio of two student divers per certified divemaster
- Accompany Open Water Diver students under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor during surface swims to and from the entry/exit point and during navigational exercises and when the instructor conducts a skill, such as an ascent or descent, a Divemaster can remain with other student divers (with an individual student or buddy team)
- Accompany student divers during Adventure Dives or Specialty training dives under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
- Conduct the PADI Seal Team Skin Diver Specialist AquaMission
- Conduct subsequent dives under an instructor’s indirect supervision for Discover Scuba Diving participants after participants have satisfactorily completed the first dive with a PADI Instructor
- Teach Emergency First Response courses after successfully completing an Emergency First Response Instructor course

Structure - PADI Divemaster Course in Perhentian Island, Malaysia.
Duration: Between 4 and 6 weeks
Components:
This program is divided into three phases:
- Knowledge development
- Watermanship, stamina and skill assessment
- Practical application and scenarios
Knowledge Development:
a. Divemaster knowledge
- 12 topics – Divemaster Manual
- Watching Divemaster video
- Independent study and answering knowledge reviews
- Instructor presentations and discussion sessions
- Projects and assignments
- Formulating Emergency Assistance Plan for local practice
- Three Exams covering Supervising Certified Divers, Assisting with students in Training and Divemaster Conducted Programs
b. Diving theory
- 5 topics – Physics, Physiology, RDP, Equipment and Skills & Environment
- Instructor presentations and discussion sessions
- Practice answering questions using PADI Diving knowledge workbook and the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving
- Five exams covering the same five topics
Waterskills and stamina
a. Stamina
- Swimming test (400m)
- Snorkeling test (800m)
- Tired diver tow (100m)
- Water tread test (15 minutes)
b. Waterskills
- Workshops on how to demonstrate skills
- Workshop on how to perform rescue for unconscious diver at the bottom

Prerequisites - PADI Divemaster Course in Perhentian Island, Malaysia.
Before you can start your PADI Divemaster course in Perhentian Island, Malaysia, you must:
- Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. A qualifying certification is defined as proof of certification beyond entry level, and proof of 20 or more logged dives documenting experience in deep
diving and under water navigation.
- Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. A qualifying certification is defined as proof of certification in diving rescue from a training organization other than PADI. If the candidate demonstrates poor or inadequate performance during the diver rescue assessment, then the candidate must complete a PADI Rescue Diver course.
- Be at least 18 years old at the start of PADI Divemaster training.
- Submit, to the instructor, medical clearance for diving signed by a physician, attesting to fitness to dive. The medical clearance must be current within the previous 12 months. The physician signing the form cannot be the individual.
- Submit proof of Emergency First Response Primar y Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) training (or other qualifying CPR/first aid training) within the last 24 months.
Before you can get certified as a PADI Divemaster, you must:
- Show proof of 60 logged dives documenting experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation.
- Read and agree to abide by the PADI Membership and License Agreement.
- Have current CPR and first aid training within the last 24 months.
