The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the heart of the PADI Instructor training process. This program is designed for PADI Divemasters (or any qualifying certification from another training organization) who would like to become certified as PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor to be able to teach and conduct PADI diver courses.
At Gopro Malaysia, we put our focus far beyond just passing your PADI Instructor Examinations (IE). By extending your PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) beyond the traditional 7 to 9- day program, we will have enough time and opportunities to measure your performance and improve your abilities throughout the entire program in a stress-free manner. On top of that, we will also explore the Business principle of diving industry as well as discussing issues on legal, governmental and environmental concerns. What you will be doing during the Development Process
During your PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), you will apply your diving skills and knowledge into learning to conduct knowledge development segments, confined water dives and open water dives of PADI courses using the entire PADI System of Diver Education.

Preassesment:
Before you start your PADI Assistant Instructor course, we will help you fine-tune your diving knowledge, general diving skills and rescue skills. During the preassesment section of your PADI Assistant Instructor course, you will......
Complete several dive theory exams under our guidance (Physics, Physiology, Equipment, RDP and Skills & Environment).
Attend dive theory review class - if needed
Skills demonstration workshops - General skills and rescue skills
Attend a "how to use your PADI Instructor Manual" workshop
Knowledge Development:
Participate in 17 PADI Instructor Development Course curriculum presentations and workshops by PADI IDC Staff Instructor and/or PADI Course Director.
Score 75 percent on the PADI Systems, Standards and Procedures Exam and have any missed questions reviewed until mastery is achieved. Retest candidates scoring less than 75 percent.
Score 75 percent on all sections of the Dive Theory Exam and have any missed questions reviewed until mastery is achieved.
Present at least three-knowledge development teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.5 on at least one.
Confined Water training:
Perform all 20-dive skills in the Skill Evaluation, scoring a minimum of 68 total points, with no individual score below 3.
Participate in "Teaching in confined water" workshop.
Present four confined water teaching presentations, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on at least one.
Participate in PADI Discover Scuba Diving workshop
Open Water training:
Complete the PADI Divemaster course – Diver Rescue assessment.
Participate in "Conducting skills in open water" workshop.
Present two integrated (two skills) open water teaching presentation, scoring a minimum of 3.4 on each skill.
Participate in Adventures in Diving workshop.
Participate in Rescue Diver workshop.
Our PADI IDC in Perhentian Island, Malaysia is performance based developmental training - in the event that you do not meet the minimum required scores, we will keep coaching and guiding you until you can meet or even exceed the course requirements. Our goal is to make sure you have all the confidence to carry your responsibility as a PADI Scuba Instructor after your PADI IDC and PADI IE.

Prerequisites - PADI Instructor Development Course - IDC in Perhentian Island, Malaysia.
To start your PADI PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), you must be:
Dive Leader certification — PADI Divemaster or leadership-level certification with a recognized recreational diver training organization* who is either: an instructor member in good standing, or a diver with proof of certification in diver supervision and management including proof of rescue diving certification; 60 logged dives; documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation.
18 years old
Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by a physician within the previous 12 months.
Certified diver for six months.
EFR Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months.
If not a PADI Divemaster, complete the PADI Divemaster course diver rescue skills assessment.
Submit documentation of qualifying certifications for entry level, advanced, rescue and leadership level, as necessary.
